I am not convinced, as many music writers seem to be, that Janelle Monae is It’s a gutsy move for what is essentially a debut album. The ArchAndroid, the long-awaited debut work from Janelle Monáe, is an album that everyone needs to listen to. In much the same way that you lose some of the experience when you enter a movie theatre well after the movie has started playing, jumping into the middle of this is highly unwise. This is REAL Music no matter how futuristic some songs may be. J anelle Monáe is not like other pop stars. Nina, Ella, Etta, Eva.
Describing Monae’s influences is an exercise in futility – I doubt even she can deconstruct and synthesize the myriad flavors mixed into the melting pot that is I’ll say something right now, before we get too far into this review. While every song is not my favorite I figure with 12 to my liking out of 18 tracks (and two are interludes) I got MORE than what I bargained for.
There are touches of Jimi Hendrix, of Bob Dylan, of The Beatles, of Nat King Cole.

This is the first album I've bought from Monáe and really the first time I fully listened to one of her songs. continued to fascinate and again had me and other people eagerly awaiting a release. I listened to the whole album on a 15 hour road trip on the CD version my dad had left in the car.
It goes without saying that the music is wonderful. "Oh, Maker" is a plea to both God and Humanity to let us love each other (and to love us), and/or a plea from 57821 to love her (which we do). It's remarkable just how much this album manages to accomplish - form establishing the Metropolis series storyline, following a SciFi sound theme, making beautifully written and sung music, catchy numbers, danceable beats and somber soulful ballads all while carrying an underlying message of love and acceptance.Janelle Monae's smooth, versatile voice, consistent narrative and excellent production make this one of the best albums of 2010 It was supposed to arrive by May 21st. The orchestras draped across the album recall John Williams’ flair for the dramatic and Antonin Dvorak’s bravado.
Now it’s not the sellers fault but, always check where an item is being sent from. Disabling it will result in some disabled or missing features. This is one of those rare albums that needs to be listened to from beginning to end at least once to truly be appreciated. Not one person was sitting down bored desperately waiting for Prince to save us from our misery. You can tell this girl has an appreciation of who has performed this art before her and is laying down a Fabulous blueprint for many to follow. I replayed it at least three times to get a feel for each song and really, really loved the way she switches genres so effortlessly. I really like Django Jane, but that was the last thing I was expecting stepping into this album. Or is it indie ballads with beats and synths mixed in?
