I absolutely adore snow in motion pictures. It is much darker than Its breezy title would suggest, and much darker than most of the rest of the series. And like many charming people in their eighties, Swing Time can be funny and interesting but then every once in a while super racist and/or sexist.And snow.

Swing Time (1936) is a musical dance movie, so it pretty much had two strikes going in for me. When “Swing Time” lets its characters sing and dance, everything else falls away. The music and dancing is special. The dancing is as marvelous as you'd expect, but I also loved the low-key comedy that surrounded it.
Victor Moore and Helen Broderick are outstanding comic relief. Think of what? There's almost nothing more beautiful on the big screen; especially when it's in black and white.Swing Time is generally considered the pinnacle of the Astaire/Rogers series, which is rather interesting when you consider how surprisingly mean-spirited the film is. Will it all work out?Well I guess ignorance is bliss, when it comes to the silly and sleazy way Swing Time manages to pulls its great dance scenes together.One of my favourite elements in film - especially with stuff from the studio era - is set design.
