The show takes place on the fictional island of Ronansay off the coast of Abby is a single mother living in London with her two children. She sees an advertisement for a family with two children to run a Abby begins a relationship with a local fisherman, called Alistair. However, keeping up the charade isn't easy, especially when Abby arouses the interest of the local salmon farmer, Alistair (John Straiton).In the second series Abby's flourishing relationship with Alistair proves difficult for Kenny to handle, especially when Abby suggests that Kenny find somewhere else to live.
But as he's out to sea, the boat takes on water and he abandons ship and manages to struggle ashore an inlet.The next morning the alarm is raised that Kenny has disappeared and the coastguard begin a search as the islanders wait helplessly. So Kenny, secretly, heads for London to find Robbie.When Robbie arrives he is expectedly met with much hostility and Abby is furious with Kenny for bringing him to the island. Kenny in turn begins a relationship with a local girl. Abby refuses to let him back into their lives. Kenny finds this relationship difficult as he is secretly in love with Abby.
