Typical RVF are students of local colleges. He/she will be expected to learn and participate in fire and emergency service delivery, public education and fire safety programming, fire code inspections, building and apparatus up-keep and other typical firefighter tasks.The RVF is trained to state certification standards as a firefighter (NCF&RC), EMT (NCOEMS), Rescue Technician (NCF&RC), Fire Inspections (NCBCC) and other certifications commensurate with fire and rescue duties.

Receive a 2.5% salary increase with an associate's degree, and a 5% increase with a bachelor's degree.Salisbury firefighters receive a 2.5% salary increase with haz-mat certification.New firefighters earn 21 hours of annual leave and 12 hours of sick leave per month.Uniforms and duty gear are furnished by the Salisbury Fire Department.Candidates who complete the process successfully will be considered for the program.
